About
Roxanne Bragg of Franklinton, NC is running for a second term for Franklin County Commissioner, District 2. The retired Franklin County Director of the Department of Aging is eager to focus on supporting wise, economically, sound growth in the county. Because of her knowledge of both budgets and government structure, she will prioritize helpful oversight of county services while working to ensure well managed departments are in place to serve all citizens.
"We are facing impressive growth as the population pushes out from both Raleigh and Durham. It will be important for us to build in the right places. We'll need to be able to support a fast-growing population with appropriate water and sewer services, schools, roads, and human services. We will need to work hard to build our industry tax base as well. Right now, I'm concerned we are not ready for what is coming."
"As Director of the Department of Aging for three decades, I worked with commissioners on budgets and policies. Now, that I am retired, I have the time to focus on working for all the citizens of Franklin County as District 2 County Commissioner, and I look forward to tackling our issues. We have a lot of needs that were on the table twelve years ago that still have not been fixed. I support a reasonable budget, and I will also communicate well with voters. I want to use those blessings God has given me to work with all our citizens for the good of the county."
"I am also very interested in serving our aging population as well. More than forty percent of our county's population is sixty years or older. I look forward to bringing my background to the Board of County Commissioners so we can serve our seniors well and manage our expenses wisely while keeping taxes in check."
During Bragg's leadership tenure, the Franklin County Department of Aging and its Senior Centers were recognized as model agencies. In 2007, Bragg was elected President of the North Carolina Coalition on Aging - a statewide alliance of 41 organizations committed to improving the quality of life for the older adults through legislative, governmental, and community action. She also served as the President of the North Carolina Association of Aging for two terms.
Following Bragg's retirement, she married Thomas Stark, former North Carolina Republican Party parliamentarian and general counsel. Bragg has had the opportunity to watch incredible people accomplish bold goals for the citizens of North Carolina, and is eager to work with Franklin County's citizens to achieve outstanding outcomes locally.
Born in Franklin County, Bragg's family has been involved in the Pocomoke community throughout her lifetime.
